I heard a while back that Ford bought the small diesel truck division of Cummins. Can anyone confirm this. If this is true then Ford will be selling Cummins engines to put in Dodge trucks or maybe they won't sell to Dodge. ???

My understanding is that Ford only owns controlling interest in Cummins. I thinkDodge's contract with Cummins expires at the end of 1999 or 2000. Ford losesInternational (Power stroke) a year later. Dodge has a 7-8 liter diesel in themakings at the moment, with similar power output. I would think they plan to use this engine after theCummins contract expires. I don't know what Ford plans to do. Has anyone heardabout Chevy using Caterpiller Diesel? I also heard word of Isuzu, but can'timagine Chevy putting a foreign make in a domestic truck. I personnally thinkit would hurt them, because of die hard "buy American" Americans. ....

I have owned a 6.5 GMC diesel, in fact I traded it off 2 months ago. I would ownan Isuzu diesel before I would own another 6.5. I had the truck 2 years and it went to the shop 9 times. I am a happy Powerstroke owner now. Brent ....

MLS, A chevy dealer(MOLES),told me GM has teamed up with IZUZU to make a new 300 hp diesel to put in their junk.The trucks will be torn apart like paper towels if they do this. ....

At one time, I believe it was newholland owned about 12% of cummins stock.It has since been sold or bought back by cummins i dont rember which. This isan old rumor, and ford NEVER owned a controling interest.-jd ....
